Welcome

Welcome to my website, here you will find blog posts, photography and tech projects I’ve worked on over the years. I’m new to wordpress so forgive me if this all looks a little ‘tacky’, but I’ll work to improve things, and add more content over time.

I am a techie kinda guy based in the north east with a lifelong interest in geeky stuff. I’ve thrown this website together to help me keep track of many of the bits n bobs I’ve encountered on my tech journey.

In addition to being a self confessed geek, I enjoy travelling, have a weird love of old buildings, photography and cooking.

Video games have always played a part in my life, since my love of tech started when my parents bought me a 2nd hand ZX81 (with a 16kb ram expansion pack!). I then progressed to the ZX Spectrum (with the sloppy microdrives), I’d happily sit in my room for hours with my fingers ‘tapping’ away on the squidgy keyboard, creating a fantasy world of my own. I didnt realise it but I was creating games, it just seemed to come naturally to me. I called my games exciting things like “Dragon Castle” and “The Hunched Back”. Later when I was about 17 I recvied an Amiga 500 for my birthday, wow – now I moved on to creating such wonders as “Fruit Machine” and “Forcaster” (yes I know the spelling is wrong now).

My Amiga games were sold from my bedoom, posted off to people all over the country. I would even include a printed instruction manual. In 1990 I had reached the pinacle of my game development career when “The Fruit Machine” made it to the cover of a UK magazine (I’ll include a scan of the article somewhere). After that climatic event I decided to call it a day and focus on life outside the teenage bedroom.

I’ve worked in the professional IT landscape since the mid 90’s, involved in IT management, infrastructure design, project planning, troubleshooting and support. See my resume page, but contact me for more information.
